Cookies and counting

This page is about what memoto.nl puts on your device and why. In short: only what the site and the app need to work, plus a visitor counter that switches on only if you say yes.

What we measure

We count visitors with Google Analytics, and only on memoto.nl itself: the home page, the Why Memoto page and this page. Inside the app, behind your login, we measure nothing. We look at visitor numbers, which pages they open, where they come from and what kind of device they use. We never measure anything about what you write.

Your choice

Before you say yes, nothing happens: Google's code is not loaded and no request leaves your browser. If you say no, it stays that way. We keep your choice for 180 days in a small file on your device. You can change it at any time through the Cookie preferences button at the bottom of every page.

What we do not do

No advertising cookies and no advertising code, from anyone. No profiles to recognise you elsewhere. No measurement inside the app and nothing about the contents of your journal. Google's advertising signals stay off, even when you say yes.

How long we keep the numbers

Google Analytics keeps individual events for 14 months on our behalf. After that only totals remain. The processor is Google Ireland Limited.
